Will There Ever Be Another Jordan pt.1

Will there ever be another Michael Jordan as far as the NBA is concerned? If it happened once it can happen again can't it ? Or was Jordan a talent so far beyond the talent one man should have that it is something that will never be reached again?

In 1984 Michael Jordan was drafted 3rd overall by the Chicago Bulls. At this point everybody knew that he was going to be something special based on his accomplishments at the University of North Carolina. His first major accomplishment was winning rookie of the year this season. Jordan also won an Olympic gold medal as a part of the 84 Olympic team.

In 1986 after scoring 63 points in a playoff game against the Boston Celtics, the great Larry Bird was quoted describing Jordan as, "God disguised as Michael Jordan" a huge compliment coming from a player like Larry Bird especially considering Jordan was only in his second season in the NBA. After the 1987 and 1988 slam dunk competitions which Jordan won, the world was amazed at his athleticism, creativity, and his grace while he was what seemed to be flying through the air.

From this point on, Michael Jordan only got better at the game of basketball. He already seemed so perfectly, fundamentally sound that it's hard to imagine that he could find anything to improve on. As he got older, and some of the physical athleticism started to leave him, Jordan mastered the art of the turn around, leaning, and fade away jump shots making him more difficult to defend. Those improving skills along with his increasing defensive skills and his unbelievable arsenal of dribbling moves and ball fakes, made him a nightmare for whoever was matched up against him. Los Angeles Lakers great, Magic Johnson even said, "There's Michael Jordan and then there is the rest of us."

Jordan went on to lead the NBA in scoring for a record 10 seasons as well as tying Wilt Chamberlain with a record 7 consecutive seasons.  He also went on to be selected to the NBA All Defensive Team 9 times, a record shared with only Gary Payton. Jordan was a 6 time NBA champion with the Bulls. All sex times he was voted finals MVP.  He was selected to 14 All Star teams, 3 of which he was the MVP. We could talk about Michael Jordan's statistics and records all day long and that would only tell half of his story.

If you want to know the whole story, you would have to have seen him play throughout his career. The love that he had for the game was unequaled. The amount of fun that he had playing the game as well as the amount of fun he made the game for others playing with or against him, and the intensity and determination that he had, those things tell some of the rest of the story. His ability to make amazing plays both offensive and defensive, when his team needed them the most was unbelievable. You would have the feeling that if Michael Jordan said he was going to win the game, that's just what he was going to do, even when he was terribly sick with a case of the flu! Michael Jordan was everything that everyone should strive to be as a basketball player. An innovator, a superstar, a champion, and a legend..  there will never be another Michael Jordan.

there could never be another him, for that matter there will never be another Kobe, another, iverson. You name them. As far as the mark Jordan left someone will break his records if you will, but when the question of who the greatest player ever to do it comes up Jordans name will always be in the discussion. I mean look at his numbers even when he came back and played for the wizards...was still one of the best players in the league. Kobe has no chance to ever be better than him and in my mind Kobes the 'next best thing' to Jordan but not quite.

Michael Jordan created a brand, it was called "Mike". He was the Tylenol of medicine or the Benjamin Franklin of the American Revolution. I heard his father once say, "One day God wanted to create a miracle, and so he created Michael". I watched him play throughout his whole career and do realize he is as human as all of us. But what a human!!
